On the other side of the Hetao, Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation is a top priority, allowing me to appear on Shenzhen TV and the Phoenix Show, proving that Hong Kong must catch up quickly! Over the past 45 years, Shenzhen has grown from a small border town into an international innovation city. This isn't just reflected in skyscrapers and technological advancements; it's also a testament to the daring, pioneering spirit of countless individuals. Many friends have asked me what this colorful space is. This is the Shenzhen Women and Children's Building—built in the 1990s, one of Shenzhen's first high-rise buildings. After recent renovations, it's the city's first PPP (public-private partnership) project, a microcosm of socioeconomic reform. Here, we pay tribute to the spirit of the Special Economic Zone and envision the future of Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation, exploring a new possibility: transforming public spaces into platforms for social engagement and allowing cultural exchange to fuel social innovation.

Path of Democracy recently met with HK's Chief Executive to share key research insights and policy recommendations. We presented three major findings: international business perceptions of Hong Kong’s business environment, the impact of Article 23 of the Basic Law on press freedom, and the latest results from our One Country Two Systems Index. These studies reflect our commitment to evidence-based policy research. We also proposed actionable ideas for the upcoming Policy Address—including enhancing English proficiency to boost global competitiveness, creating a youth cultural exchange platform, and strengthening mechanisms for public-government dialogue. As Hong Kong navigates economic transformation and global shifts, we believe collaborative, data-driven policymaking is essential to reinforce our international standing and foster social consensus.

Just wrapped up a four-day aerospace tour in Hainan province with a group of passionate Hong Kong students. From the supercomputing centre to the rocket launch site, we witnessed firsthand the strength and ambition of China’s aerospace development. We also visited historical landmarks like the Song Family Residence and the Qiongya First Congress site. What moved me most was the students’ curiosity and energy. Their enthusiasm reminded me that behind every milestone—whether in history or technology—is a dream powered by youth. I hope this journey not only sparked inspiration, but also encouraged each student to find their place in the tides of change.

Productive exchange today as Our Hong Kong Foundation’s research team visited Path of Democracy for a deep dive into Hong Kong’s public finance. We explored how to balance revenue growth with disciplined spending—while safeguarding essential public services. In the face of demographic shifts and economic transformation, we aligned on the need for forward-looking fiscal reforms: enhancing asset performance, strengthening governance, and allocating resources with precision to maximize public value As we look ahead, deeper collaboration between think tanks will be key to shaping sustainable, impactful fiscal policies. Grateful for the shared commitment to Hong Kong’s long-term prosperity.

Earlier, I shared an International Relations lesson with Secondary 4 and 5 students at King's College, including a Model United Nations conference and a discussion on the global food crisis. King's students are not only familiar with international current affairs, but also possess keen critical thinking and a keen interest in world affairs. Seeing their dedication, I can't help but look forward to their future contributions to Hong Kong in public affairs and on the international stage!

Honored to be appointed Co-Chair of the newly established Chongqing-Hong Kong Education Collaboration Centre, alongside Chongqing High-Tech Zone’s Director of Public Services, under the witness of Director Gao of the Zone’s Administration Committee. Hong Kong has long been a global education hub. This new initiative focuses on nurturing talent with local roots and global competence, built on the pillars of cognition, capability, and values. As the intergovernmental cooperation mechanism between the two cities launched two years ago, I spoke with principals from over 40 schools across the district about the strategic importance of Chongqing-Hong Kong cooperation and discussed how education must evolve in the face of globalization and technological transformation. I emphasized the need for cross-cultural understanding, digital literacy, and a strong sense of public responsibility—qualities essential for the next generation of changemakers.

Visited a community fair in Tsuen Wan last month and had the chance to chat with some incredible young innovators. These primary students proudly showcased creative products designed to support the elderly—from custom wheelchairs for low-lying areas and toilet-assist robots for dementia patients, to day-trip services tailored for retirees. Each idea was filled with warmth, empathy, and a genuine desire to help. It was truly inspiring to see such compassion and creativity at such a young age. Their thoughtful designs reflect not only imagination, but a growing sense of social awareness and care for others.

The BRICS Summit is being held in Rio de Janeiro. Today, I also hosted a forum on civil society cooperation at CUHK, where I had in-depth exchanges with experts from the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization, the Pacific Basin Economic Council, Ritsumeikan University, and other institutions, as well as other consular representatives. I look forward to Hong Kong becoming a knowledge hub for global development. The BRICS countries' advocacy of local currency settlement and multilateral digital currencies is a structural response to imbalances in the global financial order. With its mature financial infrastructure and unique cross-cultural strengths, Hong Kong plays a vital role in this wave of innovation. I believe Hong Kong can seize opportunities, actively participate in multilateral economic governance, contribute to the development of emerging economies, and consolidate its position as an international financial center.

In an interview with Commercial Radio's "Your Way Out", we discussed the development trends of education in the Mainland and observations on "studying in Hong Kong". In the program, we explored the multi-dimensional choices and challenges faced by Mainland students in planning their education paths, and analyzed the unique value of Hong Kong as an international education hub. With its bilingual teaching environment in Chinese and English, its cultural ecology that blends the East and the West, and its internationally recognized higher education system, Hong Kong provides Mainland students with a development platform that combines academic depth and a global perspective. How to help students and parents understand the differentiated advantages and development opportunities of Hong Kong education in a more systematic way still requires the coordinated promotion of policymakers, higher education institutions and all sectors of society.

I am very pleased to witness the official opening of the "Youth Diplomat Literacy and Skills Academy" with Secretary for Security Chris Tang and Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare Ho Kai Ming. As an academic partner, I firmly believe that diplomatic education is not only about imparting knowledge, but also about shaping values and expanding horizons. The birth of this academy symbolizes that we have taken a solid step on the road of youth training and created a platform for the next generation of Hong Kong to understand and participate in the world.
