Young Diplomat Literacy and Skills Academy

I am very pleased to witness the official opening of the "Youth Diplomat Literacy and Skills Academy" with Secretary for Security Chris Tang and Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare Ho Kai Ming. As an academic partner, I firmly believe that diplomatic education is not only about imparting knowledge, but also about shaping values and expanding horizons. The birth of this academy symbolizes that we have taken a solid step on the road of youth training and created a platform for the next generation of Hong Kong to understand and participate in the world.

In the "I am a Diplomat" mock international debate, youth representatives from many local schools engaged in in-depth debates on the international situation, covering foreign economy, geopolitics and global cooperation. During the debate, I saw not only the exchange of words, but also the stirring of thinking and the budding of a sense of responsibility.

I have always insisted that the core of education is inspiration, and the cultivation of diplomatic literacy is the key to enable young people to have global thinking, cross-cultural understanding and public participation. The Shanghai-Hong Kong Institute will continue to support this project and work with all sectors to promote Hong Kong youth to go global and become future leaders with vision and action. This is not just the launch of an educational project, but also the inheritance of values and the practice of vision. I look forward to seeing more young people grow, speak out and connect with the world on this platform.
