The "Traveling Through the History of the Republic" Outstanding Youth Legal Education Training Program, hosted by the Hong Kong Association for Young Historians and sponsored by the Committee on Civic Education, was successfully concluded on November 30, 2024. The closing ceremony invited Mr. Lam Chi-wing, a member of the National People's Congress of the Hong Kong region, and Mr. Ho Ka-chun, a member of the Committee on Civic Education, to witness the students' learning outcomes. The training program is co-organized by the Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Joint Research Institute of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law Research Center of Shenzhen University. With the theme of "Traveling through the History of the Republic", it will lead participants to learn the Constitution, the Basic Law and the overall national security concept through lectures, card games and other diverse learning methods. In addition, the conference also arranged for participants to visit the Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law Research Center of Shenzhen University to receive training from Basic Law research experts Dr. Li Peimin and Dr. Lu Wenwen, in order to consolidate and deepen their learning outcomes.
When Pan Xuezhi, assistant director of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Institute of CUHK, was training students, he gave a comprehensive introduction to the origin of the Political Consultative Conference system, which laid the foundation for people's democracy in the entire process of my country's development today, and received unanimous recognition from the trainees. Huang Jiaqing and Zhou Jing, outstanding students from Muguang English College, both said that the Shenzhen delegation was rich in content and had a deep understanding of the history and achievements of reform and opening up and the "one country, two systems" principle. Wang Xinrui, an outstanding student from Xuan Dao Middle School, said that after going through the entire training program, he had a better understanding and insight into the modern history of the early days of the People's Republic of China, and it also increased his understanding of the development and rejuvenation of the motherland.
Mr. Liao Zhiliang of Christian Education Middle School, who was recognized as an outstanding instructor, believed that the students were serious during the activity and that it enabled them to have a deeper understanding of the Constitution and the Basic Law than in traditional school classes. The results were encouraging. Another teacher who received the award for outstanding instructor, Mr. Huang Jiayu from Muguang English School, said that the training program used highly interactive and diversified teaching methods, which not only made the study of the Basic Law and modern Chinese history more vivid and interesting, but also allowed students to achieve greater learning results.
