On the other side of the Hetao, cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong is a top priority. Having been featured on Shenzhen TV and the Phoenix Show is proof that Hong Kong must catch up quickly! Over the past 45 years, Shenzhen has grown from a small border town into an international innovation city. This isn't just reflected in skyscrapers and technological advancements; it's also a testament to the daring, pioneering spirit of countless individuals. Many friends have asked me what this colorful space is. This is the Shenzhen Women and Children's Building—built in the 1990s, one of Shenzhen's first high-rise buildings. After recent renovations, it's the city's first PPP (public-private partnership) project, a microcosm of socioeconomic reform. Here, we pay tribute to the spirit of the Special Economic Zone and envision the future of Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation, exploring a new possibility: transforming public spaces into platforms for social engagement and allowing cultural exchange to fuel social innovation.
To mark the 45th anniversary of the Shenzhen SEZ, I gathered 60 emerging talents from Hong Kong and Shenzhen for a cross-border dialogue in the Hetao area.
Through site visits and a deliberation workshop, we explored new directions for coordinated development. Experts in economics, public policy, entrepreneurship, and youth development from both cities shared real-world insights on talent development and career challenges.
This initiative was designed to foster equal dialogue between experts and youth—encouraging collective thinking and shared decision-making. I believe the future of Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation lies in civic participation, where people from both cities co-create inclusive, innovative, and sustainable solutions. # Zhang Keke Chairman talks about the secrets of Hetao, # Zhang Yuge The director's discussion on Bay Area integration resonated deeply with me and benefited greatly from it. In organizing this consensus conference, I hoped to foster equal dialogue, collective reflection, and joint decision-making between experts and young people. I believe that Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation is a platform for citizen participation, where talented individuals from Shenzhen and Hong Kong can think, create, and act together, jointly charting a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable blueprint for Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation.
