HKAPP Field Trip
Many public issues are related to place and location. According to the plan of the smart city blueprint, the government is experimenting with a spatial data sharing platform. In addition, the new government will reorganize the Home Affairs and Youth Affairs Bureau. If you are interested in serving in this area, you must first understand how the public can educate the next generation. This inspection hopes to inspire the students to master one more analytical tool and make evidence-based policy recommendations. We also hope that they will understand in the historical building of the Youth Association Leadership Academy that only by understanding the past can we build the future!
HKAPP: Class of 2022 graduation ceremony
Congrats to Hong Kong Academy of Politics and Public Policy's Class of 2022! It's an intellectually stimulating experience to coach the policy projects of these bright minds from different sectors. This is one of my favourite courses for the diverse discussion keeps everyone abreast of how young professionals look at public issues of Hong Kong. As our guest of honour Allan Zeman observed, if all these problems are solved, this city will be a perfect place to live in.
National 14th five-year plan and HK
Blueprinted by the national 14th five-year plan, experts on regional economy shed light on how Hong Kong can sustain and develop its role as four established centres (international finance, transportation, trade and asset management) and four emerging centres (international aviation, I&T, intellectual property and art & culture) at the local level, with Shenzhen and in the Greater Bay Area. We had a fruitful discussion with the audience about the upward mobility of young people who are not engaged in the technology and financial industries. This was the 18th annual conference organized by CUHK-Fudan Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Institute.
White Paper Hong Kong's Democratic Development
Soon after US' Summit for Democracy, China's State Council promulgated a white paper on the democratic progress of Hong Kong. As the pro-establishment camp will monopolise the next LegCo, I urged other think tank leaders (incl two newly elected legislators) to empower other democratic channels, such as consultation, inquiry, hearing and dialogue. Opposing voice will stifle temporarily, but our deep-seated problems will root to the deepest level if people's needs are not addressed.
Exploring the road to good governance
The National Security Law for the Hong Kong Area and the improvement of the electoral system have allowed Hong Kong to steadily enter a new historical stage from chaos to governance, and from governance to prosperity. It has also opened up a new situation for Hong Kong of good governance and long-term peace and stability. In view of this, experts and scholars from more than ten authoritative think tanks and organizations in Hong Kong gathered together to provide advice and suggestions on "exploring the road to good governance". This brainstorming session was organized by the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Liaison Office of the Central People's Government) and co-organized by the Solidarity Hong Kong Foundation (Foundation).
Hong Kong 200: Social Studies
The younger brothers and sisters of the very serious classmate Hong Kong 200 will soon conceive of the Project for Hong Kong social improvement plan. This time I will share with them how to study social problems, and there are some common analysis pitfalls. This year’s training focused on three major issues: positive education, environmental conservation and elderly care. We extended it to the phenomenon of school bullying, waste recycling and invisible elders. Knowing the crux of the problem, we can prescribe the right medicine first!
