The true value of youth participation in public affairs lies not in simply receiving policies, but in contributing warm imagination and practice to the future of the city as co-builders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently invited by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups' Youth Research Centre, I served as a judge for the final round of the inaugural "Hong Kong 2035: Youth Policy Proposal Competition." After a series of training workshops, field visits, and policy lobbying exercises, the participants transformed their ideas into concrete solutions and faced questions and exchanges from cross-disciplinary experts on the final stage, fully demonstrating the analytical abilities, innovative thinking, and social responsibility of the new generation of youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a judge, my deepest impression wasn't just seeing policy recommendations, but rather witnessing the confidence many young people have in Hong Kong's future development. They care about social issues, are willing to go into the community to understand real needs, and are courageous in thinking about Hong Kong's development direction for the next ten years or even longer from different perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whether it's promoting green transformation, developing high-value-added industries, or improving the community living environment, many proposals demonstrate young people's aspirations for a better future. When young people have the opportunity to engage with public policy, participate in public discussions, and transform their ideas into feasible solutions, the potential they demonstrate often exceeds expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Young people should not merely be the recipients of future policies, but rather co-builders of the future society. We look forward to more young people participating in Hong Kong's development through concrete actions, transforming their empathy and enthusiasm into tangible influence, and jointly shaping a more innovative, vibrant, and promising future.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
