My schooldays were at the time when globalisation reached its peak and 'Made in China' emerged rapidly. The reshaping of the global economic system resulted in a worldwide eagerness to learn more about China. Hong Kong has always been a watchtower for outsiders to understand China. This city in the south is also China\u2019s connection to the world. As an individual born and raised in Hong Kong, I have a good understanding of its uniqueness. As a result, after finishing my education in the United Kingdom, I returned home, to the place I found most familiar with, to start my research on China\u2019s economy. In the process of reform and opening up, I wish that through recording, analysing and summarising the details of the country's success experience, I could transition from being an observer to a contributor, and to promote the 'China model' to other developing countries so that they could learn from it, bringing them hope for better quality of life.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The studies in Economics, Politics and International Relations equipped me with an interdisciplinary background. Following graduation, I pursued advanced academic training under the guidance of several senior professors. I did research on intergovernmental relations as well as trade and economic cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In the process, I received solid academic training in China studies and international trade. I have served in\u00a0Department of Politics and Public Administration<\/a>\u00a0at the University of Hong Kong,\u00a0Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Institute<\/a>\u00a0at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Fudan University and involved in Hong Kong's\u00a0APEC Study Centre<\/a>, liaising with mainland and overseas officials, experts and academics. Over the years, my visits to the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta have left me a lasting impression of the energetic implementation of local reforms, encouraging me to stay true to my original aspiration in studying China's economic development.<\/p>\n<\/div>

My predecessors in education and research during the past few decades came out of the ivory tower and into the world, sharing their wisdom and expertise as the country's economy took off. This has inspired me to follow in their footsteps and attempt to influence society by putting what I have learnt into practice. I represent my organisation to join the Greater Bay Area Think Tank Alliance, meeting with industry leaders regularly to tackle difficult policy issues. I, along with young professionals at the\u00a0National Academy of Governance<\/a>, have formed the\u00a0Meridian Academy<\/a>\u00a0to promote the history, culture, and most recent developments of our country. By contributing to publications and columns, holding media programmes, and giving lectures on campuses in the mainland and Hong Kong, I'm eager to engage with the general public. I stay grounded and make little, gradual changes to people's perceptions and ideas.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
